B Sutherlin, a.k.a. Swami B’mon, known simply as B, is a native of Indianapolis. After a hitch in the army he worked a variety of jobs including construction, landscaping, retail sales, store management and collections in Texas and Indiana. B was the essential volunteer assistant for the Blue Monkey Sideshow during its first three seasons. As doorman, bouncer, merchandise manager and stage crew, he was influential in shaping the performance environment and audience mood. Affected by his close association with the show, B developed performance skills and now is part of the show. As the Swami B’mon, B performs the bulb of enlightenment, walks on broken glass, lays on a bed of nails, lays across the bridge of blades, and is a master of the shrinkwrap.
